ABOUT ME

IMG_1278.JPG

Hi, I'm Matt!

I'm a freelance journalist, born and raised in Cornwall! I began my studies in the media in 2014 and, after beginning to specialise in journalism, received an upper 2:1 in 2022.

My fascination with the media started when I was a lot younger, I used to like the idea of being that stereotypical film depiction of those old Hollywood film reporters. Since then, I've worked for regional news outlets (both written and broadcast), independent streaming services, and even got the chance to mentor younger journalists during the G7 in Cornwall.

I have experience with a multitude of different softwares and platforms, with years worth of experience in some of the Adobe Suite systems, and even familiarity with more industry specific ones like 'Dira!'.

As a person of colour, a gay man, and a non-cis presenting person, representation is something very important to me, and it's arguably one of the biggest contributing factors to my branding as well as my work. It also provides me with a different lens in which I might analyse the work of myself and others.
